Graeme Bowtle Position and specialisations Graeme is a consultant and Head of Steele Raymond LLP ’s Shipping Team. He specializes in advising banks and financial institutions, owning groups, operators and shipyards on ship finance structures and documentation, contracts for the construction of ships, and other capital equipment for use in the shipping and off shore industries, and on sale and purchase contracts: he also advises on disputes that from time to time arise under these contracts.
Education and career Graeme was previously a partner and a consultant to Richards Butler a leading maritime law firm in London. Graeme is the co author of the Law of Ship Mortgages which was published in 2001 in the prestigious series of Lloyd’s Shipping Law Library and is the leading text book on the subject. He wrote the book with Kevin McGuinness who until recently was the Steele Raymond LLP Professor of Business Law at the University of Bournemouth. Graeme has also contributed to the ship finance sections in the Encyclopaedia of Forms & Precedents, Practical Lending and Security Precedents and Asset & Project Finance: Law & Practice. He is also a member of the British Maritime Law Association and has lectured and given papers at seminars on ship financing.
