Whether you’re an undergraduate, postgraduate or experienced professional undertaking a career change, placing your trust in us is a big decision and not to be made lightly.
At Steele Raymond, what sets us apart is our people.
Practicing law is tough but rewarding. Doing it in an open, supportive and friendly environment with people who you respect and enjoy working with makes all the difference.
That’s why previous trainees have said that they were ‘impressed by the friendliness in the office’ and that ‘the people’ are the best thing about our firm.
“I am often asked what makes an application for a training contract stand out. For me, the applicants who demonstrate exceptional personal achievement and have a good awareness of the firm are more likely to succeed.”
– Jennifer Rogerson, Training Principal & Partner
What our trainees say…
The people at SR really do make the training contract special. The partners, my fellow trainees and colleagues are approachable, friendly and always a happy to help. If I was to compare the lawyer I was 6 months ago with the one I am now, the improvement I see in myself staggers me.
– Taylor Anderson, Trainee Solicitor
The training at Steele Raymond has been phenomenal. I have been consistently supported and mentored, with regular opportunities to review my work with my supervisor, which has not wavered whilst working remotely. I have enjoyed receiving increased responsibility with each new seat and having the opportunity to work closely with so many talented colleagues.
– Amy Baugh, Trainee Solicitor
I am thoroughly enjoying my training contract at Steele Raymond. For me the best part has to be the people who create such a friendly and supportive working environment. When I put forward ideas I know they will be listened to.
– Jessica Wade, Trainee Solicitor
“The training Programme at Steele Raymond has been fantastic. The firm as a whole, and not just the team that I am in, are consistently approachable and willing to help you no matter what level you are at.”
– Roisin Fisher, Solicitor
“The best part of the training contract is the responsibility and trust that is given to you. I have helped with large transactions and I like how everyone at the firm will take their time to explain every aspect of a deal, so you know exactly what is going on and how the work you are doing fits into the transaction.”
– Zaeem Mughal, Trainee Solicitor

Proud winners in seven Lex 100 2020/21 categories
The Lex 100 is highly regarded amongst students considering a career in the legal profession, providing an up-to-date guide to the UK’s top law firms and insights into life as a trainee solicitor. Each year The Lex 100 publishes a list of the top 100 firms, based on anonymous survey responses from over 2,000 trainees who are asked to score their firm on 12 aspects of both work and lifestyle.
As a regional firm, Steele Raymond has a reputation for punching above its weight and this was reaffirmed by this years’ Lex 100 results as our training programme consistently outranked many of its National and International peers in some key areas of the survey and was recognised for providing trainees with high level legal work.
