Our Environmental, social and governance (ESG) Committee has unveiled its latest project – a ‘5 star’ bug hotel in the office garden, already buzzing with life.
Designed to offer a safe shelter and sanctuary to all sorts of beneficial insects such as bees, ladybugs, and spiders, the new bug hotel is a major step forward in supporting our local ecosystem.
Pollinators such as bees are crucial to keeping plants healthy and thriving, while ladybugs help control pests like aphids. However, many of these native species struggle to find sufficient homes in urban environments. Our new bug hotel not only offers an adequate shelter but also provides food sources, helping to sustain invertebrates that are essential to a healthy garden. By supporting these hardworking insects, we are able to enhance our own green space outside the office, whilst also playing an active role in conservation, aligning perfectly with our ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability.
Amy Baugh, Solicitor in our Family team and member of our ESG Committee, said: “The opening of the bug hotel may seem like a small project, but its impact is significant. By providing a sanctuary for these hard-working creatures, we’re ensuring that our garden remains a vibrant, thriving space for all.
“The new bug hotel is just one example of Steele Raymond’s broader commitment to environmental responsibility, showcasing that even the smallest actions can have a big impact.”
The office garden is now home to a buzzing, crawling community that contributes to the garden’s beauty and sustainability. Keep an eye out for the grand opening of ‘Wilderbeast Wonderland’, a future addition that promises to continue our green journey!
