On Friday 27th June, Steele Raymond staff and clients took part in the inaugural Steele Raymond Charity Sailing Regatta, aimed at raising funds for The Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust.
Six boats participated in the regatta, representing companies including TOR & Co, Keygrove, Vail Williams, Quantuma, PKF Francis Clark, and Steele Raymond. The event began at the Haven Bar in Lymington Marina, where participants fuelled up in preparation for an exciting day of racing across The Solent.
Favourable conditions, with a mixture of sunshine and offshore winds, made for ideal sailing weather. After boarding their yachts, skippers gave participants a safety briefing before heading out on the water to learn steering, trimming, and racing manoeuvres. The boats then competed against one another in an exhilarating race to the Isle of Wight, where teamwork, timing, and a bit of friendly competition was on full display.
Following a thrilling morning of racing, everyone gathered for a delicious two-course BBQ lunch at the Royal Solent Yacht Club in Yarmouth. Jade Beasley from The Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust gave an inspiring talk about the charity’s work and its mission. She also thanked participants for raising an impressive £1,500 to support the Trust’s cause.
After lunch the winners of the regatta were announced, and it was none other than our very own Steele Raymond team who took home the much-coveted trophy!
Jennifer Rogerson, Managing Partner commented: “What an amazing day we had at the inaugural Steele Raymond LLP Solicitors Regatta. It was a wonderful way to bring people together in the fresh air on the water where teamwork, timing and a bit of competitive spirit took centre stage (and in a slightly awkward turn of events Steele Raymond won the Steele Raymond cup!). A huge thank you to Claire and Arnie at Lymington Yacht Charters for organising, Diana and Regan for crewing our boat and all the companies that took part”.
The event concluded with a scenic sail back across The Solent, where participants took in the breath-taking views of the Needles and Hurst Castle before returning to shore.
