Steele Raymond further strengthens residential development practice with new partner appointment

18/01/2022

Steele Raymond LLP’s Residential Development Team is delighted to announce the appointment of highly experienced residential development solicitor Christine Kessler-Robinson.

Christine joins Steele Raymond as a partner from a top 50 firm having worked for law firms both in London and on the South Coast. Her arrival is set to further Steele Raymond’s growing national reputation as a leader in residential development law.

Throughout her 22-year career, Christine has developed a strong reputation in the development and education sectors as well as for her work with promoters, high profile landowners and higher education institutions. She has also worked on numerous refinancing projects and key accounts for major lenders in respect of development sites, which has allowed her to develop a broad and well-rounded understanding of the development sector.

Christine regularly acts for both national and regional residential developers in respect of high-value projects and notes a career highlight in dealing with a highly complex site of over 2000 new homes with a gross development value in excess of £500 million involving intricate overage provisions.

Speaking on her appointment, Christine said:

“Steele Raymond is a firm with an outstanding reputation across the South Coast, especially in the local region. I was particularly attracted to the firm not only because of its top tier [Legal 500] status and inclusion within the 2022 edition of the Times’ Best Law Firms, but also because of the plethora of highly regarded lawyers within the firm, including numerous leading individuals (as referenced in the Legal 500) within the commercial, residential and development teams”.

She continued:

“It is a great time to be joining such a dynamic, forward thinking and rapidly expanding firm”.

Emma Stainwright, Partner and Head of the Residential Development Team, welcomed Christine to the firm by saying:

“Christine’s arrival is another key appointment for both the firm and the team, and we are delighted that she joins us at such a significant time in our evolution. Chris Dolan [Residential Development Partner] and I have both worked with Christine on numerous schemes over the years and to now have her join us as a fellow partner here at Steele Raymond is fantastic.

“Steele Raymond’s residential and landowner development offering is going from strength to strength, and we are well placed within the region to tackle some very exciting projects. Christine’s arrival further demonstrates our commitment to our clients in providing the very best legal advice and client service in this highly specialist field. Our landowner and developer clients instruct us knowing that we have the very best legal talent within our firm”.

Christine’s appointment comes swiftly after Steele Raymond’s Residential Development Team welcomed Kayleigh Ryan (New Homes Coordinator) and Sammy Hacklett (Paralegal) in November last year and represents another important step in their ambitious growth, having also welcomed specialist landowner development solicitor Alison Bailey to the team earlier in 2021.
