24 September, 2015
On Tuesday 22 September, Steele Raymond hosted members of the local business community at its Richmond Point offices for a free legal update on the implications of The Consumer Rights Act 2015, which will take effect from 1 October.
The event was held in association with Dorset Chamber of Commerce and Industry and was hosted by Steele Raymond’s Chairman Tim Stone and Company & Commercial Partner Nick Davies. Nick gave attendees a detailed overview of the changes to consumer rights law that will come into effect on 1 October and the steps businesses should take to prepare.
The new Act is being introduced to simplify consumer protection law by consolidating existing legislation, making it clearer and easier to understand and enabling consumers to buy and businesses to sell to them with confidence. The new Act should enable any disputes to be settled more quickly and cheaply, but it will be important for businesses to consider reviewing their contracts and terms & conditions to ensure they are compliant before problems occur.
The feedback from all attendees was very positive and the team is looking forward to hosting more events alongside the DCCI in the future.
