Steele Raymond welcomes newly qualified solicitor to its top-tier Company and Commercial team

22/04/2021

Leading South Coast law firm Steele Raymond has welcomed Zaeem Mughal, a newly qualified solicitor, to its Legal 500 top-tier Company and Commercial team.

Zaeem, who is a Dorset local, joins Steele Raymond as a fully qualified solicitor after completing his two-year training contract with the firm. During this time, he has gained invaluable legal experience in the firm’s Private Client, Commercial Property, Company and Commercial and Dispute Resolution teams.

Prior to his arrival at Steele Raymond, Zaeem completed three years as an undergraduate at Swansea University, where he achieved a first class law degree, and a further one year at Bournemouth University, where he completed his Legal Practice Course (LPC) with a Distinction.

Speaking on his appointment, Zaeem said:

“I am thrilled to be joining the Company and Commercial team at Steele Raymond. Whilst I’ve enjoyed all the teams I’ve worked in, I’ve always seen myself as geared towards the Company and Commercial law side of the business and my time with the team has been both challenging and extremely rewarding.”

He continued:

“I have been given the opportunity to work on some significant deals and the support and guidance I have received has really helped me to grow and improve during my training contract and the transition into becoming a newly qualified solicitor.”

Speaking on his two-year training contract, Zaeem continued:

“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time as a trainee. Before my arrival at Steele Raymond I had heard a great deal about the firm’s training programme and have really benefitted from a high level of one-to-one partner contact and guidance throughout.

“It may sound like a cliché, but there is a real family feel at the firm which, combined with the work-life balance, made continuing my career here an easy choice; I couldn’t see myself working anywhere else.”

Tim Stone, Chairman and Head of Company and Commercial at Steele Raymond, commented:

“Zaeem has made a tremendous contribution to the firm throughout his training contract and has proven himself to be an astute and promising young lawyer with a very bright future ahead of him.

“We are delighted to have welcomed Zaeem into the Company and Commercial team, where he has already developed strong working relationships both within the team and with our many clients and partners. Zaeem epitomises a key part of our growth and development strategy in helping trainees develop their longer term careers into becoming the future partners and owners of the business”

Zaeem is the latest in a growing alumni of Steele Raymond training programme graduates who have developed careers with the firm, including four of its current partners, Chairman Tim Stone, Nick Davies, Craig Hardman and Emma Stainwright.

In more positive news, the firm’s training programme recently received recognition from the Lex 100, widely regarded by amongst students considering a career in law as the leading guide to the UK’s top law firms, outranking many of its National and International peers in seven key professional and lifestyle categories.

Jennifer Rogerson, Commercial Property Partner and the firm’s Training Principal, said:

“We put a great deal of care and effort into our training programme and ensuring that trainees receive an enriching and enjoyable time with the firm is of the upmost importance.

“There is no better indicator of success than when those trainees decide to continue their legal careers with us.”

Jennifer continued:

“Zaeem is not only a promising young commercial solicitor but is a shining example to incoming trainees of what can be achieved with the right attitude and hard work.”
