Deborah is Head of Employment Law at Steele Raymond LLP.

Deborah has significant specialist employment law experience acting principally for employers ranging in size from international corporates to SMEs across a variety of both private and public industry sectors.

She is often called upon to give significant HR as well as employment law input at both strategic and practical levels, working alongside Boards, senior management, HR teams and owner-managers in order to achieve commercial, cultural and legal objectives across the full life cycle of the employment relationship.

  • Advised a luxury French children’s retail brand in relation to the introduction of new terms and conditions of employment and a new incentive scheme for staff across its stand-alone, outlet and concession stores.

  • Advised a multi-academy trust on the terms of a complex consultancy agreement and terms of service for the supply of a highly specialised employee to other academy trusts and local authorities.

  • Assisted the in-house Legal Team of a multinational publishing and educational FTSE 100 company on the employment aspects of several acquisitions and disposals, including the TUPE transfer of part of its business to a non-EU jurisdiction and the re-structure of its non-transferring UK staff.

  • Advised departing employees from an investment bank in relation to the terms of their departure from their employment with the bank and the employment aspects of their subsequent tech start-up in which their former employer was a key investor.

  • Advised a construction company in relation to the hire of a key Sales Director who was subject to wide-ranging post-termination restrictions from his previous employment.

  • Advised leading property agents on the employment aspects of their business from recruitment through to disciplinary actions, grievances, redundancies and other terminations.
