Luc joined as Partner and Head of the Commercial Property team. He brings deep experience in investment purchases, strategic land deals, and complex development work, but what excites him most is leading a team that stays close to clients and nimble in execution.
After more than ten years with a large regional practice, Luc was looking for a change, to a firm which was agile, financially sound and had a clear direction of travel. Where culture wasn’t forced and he could engage daily what he enjoyed most – leading and developing client relationships. A quiet coffee in Ringwood with Managing Partner Jenny Rogerson proved Steele Raymond matched his checklist – debt-free finances, demand-led expansion, and room to shape ideas.
From day one Luc was invited to question existing process, adjust workloads, and draft a three-year plan that aligns with firm goals yet reflects his style. “I feel trusted, and purposeful,” he says, describing how energising it was to have regular site visits with surveyors and investors.
The Commercial Property group already had solid foundations. Luc’s changes focus on clearer ownership of files, faster day-to-day decisions, and earlier exposure for junior lawyers to live matters. Busy weeks now feel constructive because everyone knows the goal and their part in it.
Colleagues greet each other by name, partner meetings end with clear actions, and growth conversations are demand led. Hard work remains – property deals rarely sleep – yet the pressure feels purposeful. Evenings include a run or family dinner without the mental fog that once followed him home.
“Safety can become a cage” Luc says. His advice is to find a firm where pace, purpose, and personality align. Moving to Steele Raymond felt bold for a week, then right every day after. Now he guides property deals, develops talent, and enjoys the freedom to lead his way.
