Book Club Culture

Shared language gives our teams real momentum. From Associates Day to firm-wide book clubs, people learn together, talk openly about pressure and burnout, and turn ideas into practical changes that make daily work more sustainable.

Shared language, shared momentum

Our culture is built on clarity, care, and shared responsibility. We invest time together so teams build strong relationships and a common vocabulary. That shared language helps people anticipate obstacles and move through work with confidence.

We pair high standards with practical supports. We stay connected, look out for one another, and address issues early so teams can sustain their energy.

The book club in action

Associates Day sparked a simple idea – read one practical book together, then discuss what it means for daily work. The first finance title helped associates think commercially about billing, credit control, and running their desk as a business unit. The group now brings together around 20 associates across offices, and the Managing Partner is in the room for open Q& A.

A recent session used The Ragdoll Contract to talk openly about burnout and what makes our environment different. The Managing Partner set the context, signposted help, and invited ideas. We already provide tools like the Headspace app and a wellbeing committee. The group suggested a monthly lifestyle hour, which leadership took away for review. The format is practical – raise an idea, progress it, report back.

Partners formed their own series around The Five Dysfunctions of a Team. It runs over several sittings so the partnership can work through trust, healthy conflict, commitment, accountability, and results, then carry the same language into their teams.

Choosing what to read is collaborative. Associates vote on the next title, and suggestions come from across the business – including a support team proposal to read Quiet. The club also works as a sounding board. People raise issues, leadership listens, and actions follow. External sessions on pricing and time recording will run in parallel for partners and non-partners, with teams picking up the discussion afterwards. The result is a simple habit that connects offices and levels, builds momentum, and helps everyone spot issues early.
