Rebecca Smith

Rebecca advises in all aspects of family law, including divorce, financial remedy, private children law for married and unmarried couples, matters relating to cohabitation and separation for unmarried couples, as well as injunction proceedings. Her focus is on outcomes that feel fair and sustainable, whilst providing calm and empathetic guidance at each stage.

She is a member of Resolution and Young Resolution (YRes) Dorset. Clients value her blend of careful preparation and practical steps that keep progress steady. Expectations are set early, and choices are explained clearly, in a measured and people-centred way, which supports balanced decision-making for her clients.

Recent work includes helping a young father secure regular contact with his daughter after contact had been refused since birth, representing a parent seeking to relocate to Australia, and assisting a grandmother to spend time with her grandchild. She supported a husband through difficult financial remedy proceedings, obtained a costs order where an opposing party failed to engage with financial remedy proceedings, helped a wife achieve a clean break where she had divorced many years earlier without resolving the finances at the time, and has supported multiple victims of domestic abuse to obtain protective injunctions.

She has also supported clients achieve workable financial settlements with their spouses which has assisted in enabling continuation of positive family ties.

The common thread in Rebecca’s approach is clear communication and focused strategy to achieve workable outcomes for her clients that meet their individual circumstances.
