Steele Raymond advises on sale of Jurassic Coast clifftop hotel

11/09/2019

Bournemouth commercial solicitors Steele Raymond LLP have advised the selling owners on the sale of the Pines Hotel in Swanage.

Brothers John and Brian Puddepha have owned and run the Pines Hotel for the last 50 years and decided to sell to pursue retirement. The hotel, which is set in the popular seaside resort of Swanage, at the eastern end of the Jurassic Coast, has an excellent reputation for its accommodation and hospitality.

Brian Puddepha said:

“We are incredibly pleased with the sale of the hotel to a well-established business which has over 15 years of hospitality and ownership experience. We think that the new owner is an ideal operator to take the business forward and we wish him all the best.”

The hotel sale was led by Partners Jennifer Rogerson and Paul Longland who specialise in commercial property law and company commercial law respectively. The Steele Raymond team provided advice on a wide variety of legal matters including company law, property and employment matters.

Jennifer Rogerson said:

“We have worked with John and Brian and their business for many years, most recently in 2017 when we also assisted in the sale of a care home in Andover. This meant we were well placed to handle the recent hotel sale. The teams at Steele Raymond have acted on many hotel sales on the South Coast recently across Dorset, Hampshire, Devon and beyond and have real specialist expertise in this area.”

Brian continued:

“The advice and assistance we have received from Steele Raymond over many years has always been clear, concise and always delivered efficiently. This meant that the transaction could move forward as seamlessly as possible, and we are grateful for all their legal assistance over the years.”
