Further growth of Steele Raymond’s residential development practice with new partner appointment

Emma joins the firm as a partner, having spent the past eight years at Paris Smith. Prior to this, Emma has held positions at a number of other reputable firms in the region, including Clarke Wilmott and Lester Aldridge. Her arrival marks yet another major step forward for Steele Raymond’s specialist residential development offering.

Specialising in all areas of commercial property, in recent years Emma has used her experience to develop a niche within permitted development, helping her clients to repurpose office buildings as residential units. In addition, Emma is known for her expertise in all aspects of residential development law, in particular site acquisition and planning.

Speaking on her appointment, Emma said:

“Steele Raymond have been on my radar for some time; the firm has significantly raised its profile over the past five or six years.”

She continued:

“The firm’s recent hires were a big factor in my decision to join; the quality of the people choosing to join Steele Raymond is real barometer for the firm’s quality and ambition. I used to work alongside Christine [Kessler-Robinson] at Clarke Willmott – for a lawyer of her calibre, and with her level of specialism, to have made the move speaks volumes.”

Asked about her hopes for the future, Emma said:

“I’d like to help Emma [Stainwright] continue the impressive growth of the firm’s residential development offering. I think I can help to bring in another stream of work to compliment that which is already being delivered so effectively.

“There is certainly a lot of potential in permitted development work . With the changes in both shopping and working habits over the last few years there are a number of commercial buildings which commercial landlords and developers will be looking to repurpose, both in the office and retail sectors, whether as an entirely residential function or as a mixed-use building with retail and hospitality below and residential above.”
